The Cross was formed in August 1987 by Roger Taylor; by advertising ads in all the famous British music-magazines.
The ad was as following: 'Drummer of a Top-Rockband is looking for musicians.' Roger wanted to leave out his name bothering,
it would appeal the wrong people. Roger in fact had to advertise his ad again with a special slogan this time: 'If you think you are good enough, phone this number...!' Masses of people answered the ad this time and it was a 'pleasure' for Roger to listen to all the answers
he got. After a few weeks he had a list of 20 bass-player, 20 guitarists and 20 drummers. These 60 canditates had to show their skills -
in a nightclub called 'Paramount City', which Roger rented for three days. Roger decided after these three days for Clayton Moss,
Josh Macrae and Peter Noone. The band was joined by Spike Edney, who was a friend of Roger and had already been playing the keyboard, while the Queen-tours in 1984 and 1986. In July 1992 the time of the band The Cross was coming to an end.
After that Roger only had contact to Josh Macrae and Spike Edney.
(Besides...Roger said that the name 'The Cross' has no religous meanings!)
