"Impossible to believe that dear Freddie has been gone for 10 years now.
The immediate pain has obviously retreated but I can honestly say that
not a day goes by when I  do not think about him and miss his presence.
He filled a very large part of my life - the life of the others in the band - but
most especially the millions of people he never met!
As I look back, I think the one thing that tends to be unsaid - aside from the
obvious traits of fun, outrageousness, generosity of spirit, vocal ability etc -
is the sheer brilliance of his musicianship.
Leagues ahead baby.
Fred - we love you - we miss you old friend!"
(Roger Taylor, 2001)

"I've always been a fidget. I can never sit still for long."

"We had a quite difficult genesis. It was very difficult for us to get a
contract, to be accepted in any way. But many groups go through
that, and it does engineer a kind of 'backs to the wall' feeling in a
band. So we felt very strong together."

"Freddie doesn't talk anymore because he's a little tired of Queen and
himself being misrepresented. I think anybody who meets Freddie
would be in for a bit of a surprise. He's not quite the prima donna you
might imagine. Obviously, he's a positive character, but so are we all.
When all is said and done, he works damned hard and puts on a
good show."
(Roger explained why Freddie didn't wanted to be involved with the press anymore!)

"Dominique and I won't get married because of the baby. We don't
need to."

"In a way I was surprised that we didn't get more criticism for playing
South America. I didn't think we were being used as tools by political
regimes, although obviously you have to cooperate with them. We
were playing for the people. We didn't go there with the wool pulled
over our eyes. We fully knew what the situation is like in some of
those countries, but for a time we mad thousands of people happy.
Surely that must count for something?
We weren't playing for the government, we were playing to lots of
ordinary Argentinian people. In fact, we were asked to meet the
president Viola, and I refused... I didn't want to meet him, because
that would have been playing into their hands. We went there
to do some rock music for the people."

"It's one of the very best things Queen have ever done, and it
happened so casually... As long as we can continue to do this,
and surprise even ourselves, we'll carry on."
(Roger about 'Under Pressure')

"We were still Number One in Argentina when that stupid war(Falkland Konflikt!)
was going on. We had such a fantastic time there, and that can only,
ultimately, be for the good. Music is totally international."

"After touring America, Europe and Japan we were totally knackered,
so we thought we deserve a bit of a rest... It also had a lot to do with
the last album not doing as well as previous LP's. We realised that
it hadn't been what a lot of fans wanted or expected from us,so we
thought a break would give us the opportunity to think things through
a bit."
